OK, I succumbed, and I bought one of the super-steroid things from the local grocery store. It is in a 6" pot, and is very root bound. It's about 12" tall.
How do I keep this alive??? It will grace the centre of the Dining Room Table, in a large plastic bowl, with lots of fresh greens and ribbons - not the brightest of locations in my home, though there are lots of windows. So, I know Cameron did this last Christmas, or was it the Christmas before......hmmmm.
Help ME!!!!! What should I do to keep it happy till it can go in a sunny window in the new year??
TIA, Nancy. |

| Keep the soil moist. NEVER let it dry out. Place a saucer under it with pebbles and water. It needs more humidity than what you can find indoors. You might even want to mist it occasionally. If it begins to turn brown, it's gone. We got them in the store this year. They aren't selling well. Lots of people complained that theirs died last year before Christmas. One lady told me she put lights on hers and it lasted about a week. I'm sure it smelled nice while it was drying out. |

| lol. Thanks Token - no lights,no!!! It does seem to have new growth on it, which is why I chose this one. The instructions say, and I quote: be sparing with water, and provide plenty of air circulation. Over watering will cause damage. They are from CA, so probably the same ones you have!! Nancy. |

| Indoor rosemary plants are a lot like the fabled suicidal gardenias. They like water, but not wet feet. They like a lot of light, but not direct sunlight. They like air movement, but not a draft or forced air from a heating duct. In my condo, I had someone give me a plant. I took it outside and planted it. When I moved, it was 3' across and going crazy. |

Yes, Edna, it does smell heavenly. I have a trailing variety in the office, with the big windows, that does well all winter, but it would be nice to have 2 plants, as I do like to cook with rosemary. Tom, it might be happy in the DR for a while, then. I keep several ceiling fans going year round, to keep the air circulating. After your 1st post, I put a cork mat under the pot, in the large bowl. I have in-filled with red pine branches, which look awesome - I have also twirled some gold ribbon through everything. It needs something more, but I am resisting lights- lol!!! Maybe some small red glass ornaments!!! I'll show pics later. Nancy. |

| You can find battery powered LED lights in most Christmas aisles now. The battery pack produces heat, but not the lights. And they last forever. |
