| I never have success at attracting birds to visit my concrete bird bath. Unfortunately, it is just an aesthetic garden ornament! I try to keep it clean. It's in a secure place... but have yet to encourage visitors. I have such attractive birds around my area, but I can't get up close to them... other then when they run into my glass window or build a nest by my house. Once we had a bird hit our patio window and injure itself. It was really tough watching it struggle. My husband placed it in the woods since the sweet bird couldn't fly. We figure it was too far gone to make it on its own, but we had no other choice. Does anybody have any luck at keeping birds from flying into glass? In the past we've placed a plastic owl near the window, but it had no effect. Also, we have problems with birds building their muddy nest under our porch roof. We've used bundles of foil, and even the plastic owl, but neither has worked. *I hope none of these questions have been previously addressed, but I haven't had much time to do a thorough search. Thanks for all of your advice!... I'm sorry that I'm keeping you busy. |

| Thanks! I'll have to check it out. Right now I have a silly female cardinal who keeps flying around us. She's a littly pesty... She acts distraught. I'm wondering if she lost her nest. We also saw our first hummingbird feed this season, but she hasn't come back to the feeder since. I'm wondering if the cardinal scared her off. For those of you trying to keep your cement bird bath clean, I found a scouring pad and water work really great. It's inexpensive and doesn't require a lot of effort, either. You must always make sure you rinse it out very well after cleaning it though. |

| I have placed rubber snakes near the areas I don't want birds, that seems to help my problem. As for getting them to the birdbath, if the water is in the sun and hot, they won't get in it. try partial shade for the bird bath. and do not put bleach or other chemicals in the water. |

| Thanks for the info.! OOPS, I did use bleach to clean it. I guess I'm going to have to rinse it well. I had read that one should place a drop of bleach in the bird bath every time it's filled in order to help it maintain its cleanliness. That doesn't seem safe, so I have never tried it. |
