Need some simple outdoor crafts

Help - I am a Cub Scout leader and we were planning a campout this weekend - may have to cancel due to some rather unsettled weather here in Texas this week. But I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for some craft ideas using things like pinecones, sweet gum pods or acorns that would be easy for some boys ages 6 to 10 to make! I have seen all the usual ideas - like making decorations for Christmas trees and bird feeders, but was looking for some other ideas. Would greatly appreciate any help!

Acorns can be glued in the shape of a wreath around the outer periphery of a paper plate. It is a nice touch to spray some of them red before they are glued on. Another option is to put the acorns in a circle and then pile them in the shape of tree (glueing as you go up) then spray the tree green and add some glitter or glue on sequins to act as decorations.
