Ideas on adhesive

I am making plant markers out of old bathroom tile. I would like to have these attached to some sort of a "stick" so that they can be off the ground, and preferably at a 45-degree angle or so, in order to be easily read. Any ideas?

I tried to attach them with some gorilla glue to some plastic kabob-type skewers, but they broke off right away (as I suspected). I think wood might stick better, but I'm affraid that it won't last.

RE: Ideas on adhesive

I hand painted some tiles for the same purpose and my husband drilled a small hole in one corner of the tile, and I made a 18 inch long hanger from wire with a hook and hung it on there and shoved it into the ground. They are easy to see. I painted a picture of a tomatoe, carrot, ect on the tile to go with the name. If I was at my home computer, I would post a picture of it.
