I did fake Ice crystals on German Status long ago --- I used Borax and remember hanging them in the bathtub to dry . ( My whole house is one big science experiment !) LOL Anyway ---- the end results were pretty - but the crystals fell off every time you touched them. Is that what you mean ?

Yes it sounds like it, but I need the finish to be permanent. I use them to decorate crafts that I sell. Any suggestions to keep those crystals 'hangin' on?

Do you have a picture of the fake ice? I haven't seen it yet. (I apparently don't get out much!)

I can't think of any sealer that you can use for it ..... unless a clear gloss spray would work . I don't have the recipe anymore - except that I remember it's Borax dissolved in boiling water -- soak your twig or branch in overnight - and then hang to dry. I'll search for the recipe & if I find it - I'll post it.

I found a page with instructions that are similar - except instead of pipe cleaners - I used twigs and dried German Status. I also used a 5 gallon pail to soak my branches in. Hope that helps alittle bit.

Thanks everyone! I don't know how to add a picture. You could try going to the website of ohio wholesale. I have their catalog, but maybe they retail on-line as well. It will say something like 'twig with plastic ice'. Thanks for the borax tip and directions!

I was unable to find the twig with plastic ice at that site.... but I did see the instructions for making borax ice so I think I'll experiment with some twigs and that recipe.
