Basically means healthy, getting proper nutrition from soil, sun and rain for plants, able to fight off disease and withstand insects. Strong roots with proper seasonal growth. Able to withstand normal weather fluctuations.

About the same for animals: flourishing would mean getting proper nutrition, exercise, shelter if needed, resulting in strong bones, teeth, healthy skin, fur or hair. Reaching proper size and weight at various levels of growth....not over or underweight.
