Seed pods as craft items

Today I was re-organizing my seed envelopes and removing seeds from some seed pods. As I was removing seeds from some Habranthus Robustus (rain lily) pods, I noticed that the seed pods look like really pretty flowers. Hmmm......

My other interest, in addition to gardening, is decorating birdhouses. You know, the ones you buy at the craft store. I decorate the birdhouses with a theme in mind for each. For a room, for a person, etc. Looking at those pretty seed pods, I decided that, with a little craft paint, they'll be terrific! Looking forward to cooler weather when I'll bring down some more birdhouses from upstairs, organize the paints, get an idea for another theme house, and start painting seed pods! I will also look more closely at other seed pods I find in the future.
