I am making Santa ornaments out of cinnamon sticks, I saw them at a craft show and I knew I could do it at home. I'm also going to try snowmen out of paint sticks, I saw them posted here. A craft exchange might be fun!! Keep me posted!

 o
RE: everybody lets start thinking about Christmas

Great hawksfan, sounds like you are making ornaments. What about an ornament exchange to keep postage down?We can trade to get ornaments from different states, keep in mind you can always use them as patterns for ideas to do.Who else wants to give it a try?

 o
RE: everybody lets start thinking about Christmas

Sheila (and everyone else) Can I join in the game? Sounds like great fun - what a great tree that would make!!
I do a "boy" tree (usually includes something made with Duct Tape) for my husband one year and then a "girl" tree for me the next but I think a "traded" tree would be so much fun. karenb

RE: everybody lets start thinking about Christmas

Great, now lets get all of our GW friends involved.I'm thinking about making this really cute Santa made from a little clay pot.I would love to get as many states involved as possible.Pass the word.

RE: everybody lets start thinking about Christmas

Hi, everyone. I'm knew to this site(lurking..but not talking.) However, this idea intrigued me enough to say that I would love to swap with you also. I can offer making an eight pointed star out of vellum paper. I think it's a form of oragami..but I've heard this is of German origin. I don't really know..but I know my Aunt from Germany is the one that taught my mother. I can make large enough for a small tree or small enough as earrings. Well, let me know if you're interested and I'd be happy to participate in this.

 o
RE: everybody lets start thinking about Christmas

everybody is welcome. We will get addresses and evrything a little later.Be sure to offer something that you are willing to make a bunch of so you can trade with lots of people. This is gonna be fun.

 o
RE: everybody lets start thinking about Christmas

Sheila - do you want to know what it will be? or should it be a surprise? Hopefully you will get lots of responses (saw your post on the Junk forum and they are great, inventive folks) karenb

 o
RE: everybody lets start thinking about Christmas

Might be best to let everybody know what we are sending.Don't want too much of the same thing going around.

 o

I'm new here too but I would love to be included! I do tole painting and One Stroke painting on signs for houses and gardens. I also do lots of different crafts with pine cones. I grow my own catnip and sew "designer" cat toys with it so if anyone has kitties be sure to say so so that they get included in the swap! :)

Count me in too, I do a lot of different crafts too. I do painting, clay things, and make a lot of different lil things with wood, and also stained glass. I think it sounds fun! :)

 o
RE: everybody lets start thinking about Christmas

I've been part of an ornament exchange before too. It's been going on for several years. check out:
www.angelfire.com/country/ornament

They do all the work of organizing everybody into groups of 10: you send out 10 ornaments & get 10 back. I have about 40 new ornaments this way. If nothing else, you might get some ideas of how to organize things.

:)
Gail

Hey, This sounds like fun. I have this book that has all kinds of ornaments to make and I need to try some of them. I live in the "show me" state of Missouri. We grow cotton here and I make an angel out of a cotton bow. Sold a many of them. Just let me know. I like the idea of group of 10 together. Blessings to all of you. Isn't this the best place to come for ideas and everyone is so,so nice to share. Nora

 o
RE: everybody lets start thinking about Christmas

Ok guys I need a little help figuring this out. What if I asked everyone to send in 10 ornaments-alike or different, and also enough postage to return your 10 different ones?We will have figure an average weight for them.I want the names and addresses sent right to me,no listing them here for just who-ever to see.How much do you guy think the postage will be?Do we need to use priority mail?Delivery conformation?Would the $3.95 priority with the D.C. which is what .50??Be OK with everyone?

 o
RE: everybody lets start thinking about Christmas

I am interested also..thanks

RE: everybody lets start thinking about Christmas

Hawksfan--I did them one year using the thick stuff you can get in a jar at craft store to make snow, We used that for beard and hair and puff paints they were adorable. were at it already my daughter and I made 14 so far ragedy ann & andy ornaments just the heads, we colored balls to look like muslin, buttons for eyes I did the hair curly and straight red yarn, bows, hats just precious.Last year we took clear glass balls put paint in and shook them they were beautiful, red & white ones looked like pepperment. Every year we make like 4 different kinds and a couple dozen for friends and family.were also making little signs with sayings on and then glue small objects on like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and put a star on.

 o

RE: everybody lets start thinking about Christmas

OK, Ohio is in, mine will be light, because they have wings, ha ha. Just decide the rules, post them and give a dead line, than anyone who wants in will know right from the git-go what is expected. I bet the little brown truck driver knows your name by the end of this one......

 o
RE: everybody lets start thinking about Christmas

please count me in I'llbe mvoing to Florida and christmas will be different for me this yr. so I'd love to have a project to take my mind off the unchrstmas like weather. i did cards exchanges when I was a stampin up demonstrator it is so much fun I think ornaments would be great and then the price would be low if everyone. organizing is abit tricky so the host usually didn't make any but everyone mad say 11 and got 10 back the extra went to the host for her trouble of swapping and getting all in the mail./ everyone included enogh postage to cover all there stuff going out and also envelopes padding whatevr was needed.

 o
RE: everybody lets start thinking about Christmas

Deadline is Thanksgiving.Everyone is to include a $3.95 stamp for priority return.Limit is 20 ornaments. For any more info from Sheila email her at oggcinc@yahoo.com

 o
RE: everybody lets start thinking about Christmas

Count me in too ...

Are we to mail them gift wrapped?

Char

 o
RE: everybody lets start thinking about Christmas

No they don't have to be wrapped. It will be easier to sort stuff into different boxes unwrapped.

 o
RE: everybody lets start thinking about Christmas

I made the cutiest angels made from glass tree balls. She has a wooden head and wings and all.I also made a really cute snowman from old fashioned clothes pins that I got at a yardsale. They still had a K-Mart price sticker on them and they only cost .48 for a big bag so I really mean OLD pins.I also made a cute snowman from those wide popsicle sticks.I am getting excited for the Holidays already.Does anybody have any little wooden spools?I used all the ones that I had and WalMart doesn't have any.

 o

 o
RE: everybody lets start thinking about Christmas

I'm new to the site. I volunteer with a middle school in KY that has an Environmental Ed program. Each Christmas we make simple crafts and little gifts to sell and make money for the program. I would appreciate any ideas I could use with these young people. We do things like small family gifts, some gag gifts, etc., ornaments and simple crafts. Ideas?????? Thanks

 o
RE: everybody lets start thinking about Christmas

I made some ornaments from dried flowers and leaves from my garden. Pressed them, and when they were dried arranged them on clear peel and stick laminate paper, and glued beads around the edges. came out kinda cute i think, and my gardener friends in other states will like them for their trees as well. A nice way to share your flowers and plants!

 o
next year

just moved out here to the SoCal desert, so not enough dried flowers yet to join in this year's exchange, but would love to participate next season if it happens again! I'll keep my eye on this forum...

RE: everybody lets start thinking about Christmas

Hi, just tripped across this forum for the first time. I love making crafts. Just gotta figure out which one to make. I do a lot of beaded stuff.

 o
RE: everybody lets start thinking about Christmas

I would like to make a gift for someone, but really do not know how to go about it. That sounded dumb, what I just typed. Anyway, here is my idea. A dear friend wrote a 3 page story that was doubled spaced, for her college class. It was about when she was 4, the security she had at her grandmothers during the day, etc. I would like to have this printed in a nice font and framed. I do not want it to be so small that a person cannot read it, nor too large, that it would take up 3 frames. Any ideas to make this project attractive and sentimental. Any ideas on matting, etc?
Thank you to all that can help.

 o
RE: everybody lets start thinking about Christmas
