Your best bet would be to solder them with a torch just like plumbers do. It's not as difficult as you think. All you need is a small torch (hardware store) and some solder and soldering flux. Brush some flux on the joint after you've assembled it, heat all around it with the torch then touch the solder to it until it melts and clings. Let it cool and check to see if it holds. If not do it again. Because it's not going to hold water, it's not as important to get a good seal.

soldering is one of the best skills you can ever pick up... and an arbor is a great place to practice, since you're not dealing with perfect seals (a pinhead failure on a water pipe is a big deal, on an arbor, it's not)

this is something you can do with a burnzomatic torch and soft solder...with the most basic instructions (and the solder patinas fairly nicely, even if you use way too much)

you CAN, however, any clear waterproof glue- the one I'm looking at has a white tube with blue lettering and is called '527'
