The boxwood trees I have made for years in the flower shops I have worked out are not "living" trees. They are made in a block of oasis and last several weeks if kept well watered. Take the oasis; soak it well,place upright in a low design bowl.Cut corners off of top so it is not such a severe squared top. Tape accross with floral tape both ways and achor to vase. Start at the bottom and place larger boxwood pieces around the base into foam. Take a tall piece and place in the center of the top. Ok, now you fill in from the bottom up, keeping in mind the shape of a tree. If it gets to look too shaggy in spots don't worry- you can always trim it with your garden clippers. Now you can decorate - this is the fun part! Make bows and attach to wooden picks, christmas balls, flowers, baby's breath,etc. can be placed into the oasis. Be sure any flowers are deep enough into the foam so it can draw water. Make sure you keep it away from hot air and NEVER place a flower arrangement on a TV because of the heat- it will dry it out. Water daily; take to the sink and water from the top and let drain before you place it back where you had it sitting. You might like to place a saucer or plate underneath just to be safe. It is time consuming, that is why they are so expensive in the florists, because it is labor intensive, but I really enjoy making these and they sell as fast as I can make them. Have fun with it!
