Staghorn Fern

Dear All,

I have a staghorn fern which is ailing. It has been living in a pot, outside, for a couple of years, largely untended. I would like to try and revive it, and transfer it onto a hardwood board, where I understand they are happier. I took off quite a large amount of rootball and have placed it on some damp sphagnum moss ready to attach to wood. Have I damaged it by removing some of the roots, how much of the roots/sterile foliage can I remove before placing on wood? I really like these plants and want this one to survive, does anyone have any top tips please?
