I love your pics of moss but I'm a bit confused by the words 'bonsai variety'. There is no special variety of moss for bonsai

Hi Larry! Thanks for the compliment on my moss pictures...

You are right, as there is no specific moss that is of the "bonsai variety". I tend to use my own terminology and "wording" at times in my descriptions.....

Because my favorite plants are small bonsai trees, and I grow moss with my miniature bonsai landscapes, I am always on the lookout for that real tight compact moss that grows on stone/rocks....so I tend to label it as "bonsai moss" or the moss being of a "bonsai variety".

Although, I have heard and read from bonsai growers that label moss that grows in the cracks of sidewalks as "bonsai moss"... Because the moss being on a footpath, always being exposed to extremes, thus keeping it miniature in growth.

I have so many more pictures to post..... so glad my Nikon dig camera was stolen, gave me a chance to upgrade to a Kodak. Easier for me to use/user friendly, takes better pictures too.

I too am a fan of bondsai and have a few young ones on the go(I had loads years ago but lost a lot and am recently starting again after relocatoing)
