Staghorn Fern twisted antlers

I have two good sized staghorn ferns that seen to be doing really well except for the fact that some of the antlers appear to have a twisted, slightly deformed appearance. ( see picture). The plants both seem to be in fine shape otherwise. Any ideas what causes this, or if it cause for worry?
