Baby Moss or Algae?

| The green patches that appear in areas that are frequently moist--is it moss trying to establish itself or is it algae? Is there a way to tell the difference at this stage? |

Algae will be the first to colonize disturbed soil...
How advanced is this growth? Can you post a pic?

| It looks like green stains--on wood and concrete. We get a lot of it here. I'll post a pic soon. Thanks |
