| Hello,
I recently aquired a fern from a local nursery called Austral Gem but that is just what they had wrote on it and no other name. It is doing great inside and I wondered if others had ever had any experience w/ this or if it actually may go by another name. THanks, Kim |

| Hi Austral gem ia an asplenium hybrid 'found'and or created by Chris Goudey of Austral ferns, victoria. australia. i don't remember what 2 aspleniums(nz?)it is created from but unlike some of the other nz hybrids that have crossed with asp bulbiferum the hybrids get 'pups' so can be prorgated that way, where as AG doesn't get 'pups' and even thogh mine looks like it has plenty of spore i believe it is sterile. It is a lovely fern and i think itis being tissue cultured and distributed through the nursery trade. Regards to all deeinoz PS I just googledimages "aspleniunm+austral+gem" and there is 3 nice pics and descriptions |

| Thanks Dee, I should have done that myself. It seems this one is now available here in the US and it is a cross between Asplenium dimorphum and Asplenium diforme and is sterile. I love Aspleniums so I will be on the lookout for this one. |
