Help with Aspargus Fern please

In the past, I have never had any success growing ferns but since acquiring a heated greenhouse that I use primarially as a tropical fish hatchery, a small asparagus fern I received as a gift has been growing wonderfully. I don't know if it's the light, the humidity, the tank water I use to water the plants or a combination of all three, but the effect on all of the plants out there has been spectacular.

However, the fern, which is planted in a clay pot, has done something that totally confuses me, but will hopefully be simple to you fern experts to explain:

It grew a single, tall stem that is now wrapped in what for all the world looks like a thin, light green vine that's sprouting little baby fern fronds.

Am I actually making more ferns and if so; how should I propogate them?
