RE: Morel fever dreams?

HI-
I'm in NC and am new to foraging for Morels. If fact, I've never even tasted them! I've heard they're so delicious! Would you be so kind as to instruct me on where to find them, (under what trees do they like to grow?) And when do they come out? Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

RE: Morel fever dreams?

Kasha, they associate closely with a variety of trees including sugar maple, beech, tulip tree, and poplars. Early spring is the time to start looking. Around here March to May seems to be the best time to look for them. You might find them as early as February. Supposedly recently burned wooded areas are especially good places to find them.
