Growing mushrooms in my veg garden?

Growing mushrooms outside in my veg garden? Can it be done?

Or do homegrown mushrooms need to be raised in a dark, damp basement?

Also, can one get the spores from store bought mushrooms such as shitake and let them ripen to produce spores? Or does one need to buy the spores to grow mushrooms?

You buy the spawn - basically woodchips that have already been sterilized and inoculated with mushroom mycelium, then spread it in your yard in a proper place (one conducive to it's growth), six months later, after a rain, mushrooms sprout.

Many types of mushrooms go great in gardens and are beneficial to the plants.
Mainly the oyster and Garden Giant.

Spawn costs about 25 bux and is guaranteed to work if you order from Fungi Perfecti, a very reputable company...
