licorice ferns and aphids

purdydirty

*I had a planter in my window with licorice ferns growing from nurse sticks. They had been doing great for the past few months but are now infested on the underside of the fronds with aphids. There doesnt appear to be any browning of the fronds or any noticeable bite marks. Will these two species live out their lives in harmony?

*I have removed quite a few of the aphids with a lint roller and have put the ferns outside hoping the cold weather and the abundance of other vegetation will drive the aphids to a new home, but this hasnt happened in the two days that they have been outside so far.

*These ferns were transplanted nurse sticks and all from private property in the tillamook coast range to the suburbs of portland a few months ago, I think the aphids hitched a ride.

Any advice?
