Replacing lawn grass with moss

Madison_the_JRT

I have a lawn that's about 20 years old. For the first 10 years or so there was a lawn service that used "chemicals". For about the last 10 years, the service was stopped, no fertilizers/other "treatments" were used, and various mosses began to grow in some areas. I'd like to replace most if not all of the grass with moss. My property borders woodland where all sorts of mosses grow naturally, so this should not be difficult over time. But, I'd like to hasten the process. Any ideas??

Further property details: on the ocean; when the oaks have leaves most of the area is full-partial shade; I'd prefer to water only with "rain"; ground slopes down from house to sea; rhodadendrons, euonymus, day lillies, hosta, and pachysandra do well with no care.
