Some Indoor grown ferns do not require frequent watering, but do need bright light and good air circulation to maintain an attractive appearance. If you use forced air heating, the humidity level inside can become very low, sometimes below 20% during extended cold periods and unless you use a humidifier, many plants will suffer from lack of airborne moisture. Once you are able to move it outdoors. in a bright shady location and it begins to receive some rainfall (much better than tap water), it should recover nicely.

Thanks for the link- I am almost positive it's a Boston Fern. My backyard was perfect for it, I just can't find a good spot in the house. I figured my plant room was too sunny for it plus there is no room for it it is too big so it is in th living room and gets almost no sun. Maybe that's the prob. Either way it's not dying, just sad, so I will just have to wait til the weather gets warmer. At least I know what it is though now.

Well trim off the dead stuff and start watering it a little more, get it ready for spring. It may put back up and be pretty again by summer. I have done this before, but this year I'm afraid I have neglected mine too much. But it's worth a try.
