Hello , I live in south east georgia. I grow a large variety of ferns. over 30 to date.. I grow all of my ferns in hanging pots. Im gunna talk about my std. boston ferns and my ghost ferns.. What do you guys think the perfect soil mix is for the boston and would it be any different for a painted fern. Right now i use miracle grow w/ three month release . It works pretty good i guess... But i want to know what you guys think is the perfect mix ???
I also use a 6 month release osmocote 18-6-12 And a water soluble miracle grow 24-8-16 Thanks !!!

RE: The perfect mix

Hi,

I used to mix my own but never got 2 mixes the same, so I prefer to use a commercial mix and once you find one you like stick to it and have everyting inb a uniform brand adding exra if necessry.
Nephs/bostons like an open homousy mix so to my commercial mix I may add some orchid bark and compost(home made) for nephs. I adjust my commercial mix depending depending on what fern I am potting I.e whether terestraial or ephitite fern.

regards
Deeinoz
