I don't know much about the soil type, but I do know they like to be misted. I have had one in the pot I bought it in for over two years and it is doing fine. I turn the shower on for 5 mins on hot then shut the door to keep the humidity in there for a long time. If you don't want to do this you can mist it everyday. I do the shower thing once a week.

IMO, they put the plants in the pots to ship them, I don't think they grow them in the same pot, threfore they aren't even close to out growing the pot. That's just my opinion, I could be wrong. But they do like humidity!!
