Info on NC native fern

I'm posting this on several different forums to get maximal exposure.

I'm curious if anybody has any information on epiphytic fern species that occur in North Carolina.

I have lived in central NC for most of my life, and I am familiar with many different native fern species. However, today I came across an unfamiliar species of fern which appears to grow epiphytically. I have seen several species of native terrestrial ferns which sometimes grow epiphytically near the base of moss covered trees before, but the species I encountered today was growing about 10-15 feet up on a tree, without the apparent protection of moss.

Any ideas of what I might have seen? I noticed the plant in the Raleigh NC area, in case that might help. I do not have any photos, though if necessary, I may be able to obtain some.

Thanks in advance for your help.
