Greetings! Have you any information about the edibility of the roots/rhizones of these fern species?:
1. Asplenium bulbiferum "Hen & Chick Fern"
2.+Matteuccia pensylvania "Ostrich Fern"
3.+/++Polysticum munitum "Giant Holly Fern" "western Sword Fern"
+species supposedly spreads fast and can be invassive.
++JLHudsen lists this species as "The thick roots were peeled and roasted in embers or cooked like potatoes with salmon eggs by Northwest Indians.
Said to have a banana-like flavor" .
