fern survive in containers!

Last year I dug out many ferns and put them in pots for height and porch interest. I was told they would be good for one season. I loved them. Free greenery and height for my pots! This year I have begun putting pots in the areas I will plant them, next month. I see GREEN frons ready to unfold!! Not ALL survived but I am tickeled at the ones that did! They all spent the winter in pots outside here in MN!! zn3/4

Which ferns did you overwinter in pots? This is interesting.

I have ferns all over my area. Are they easy to tranplant into hanging baskets, what type of soil is best to use?

I have only tried Ostrich because I have sooo many of them and I know I cannot kill them. I have MANY other ferns, Japanese painted, tatting, lady, chrismas, maiden hair fern, autumn etc..but they do not spread the same and I haven't risked loosing one of them. I did attempt to divide my Maiden hair because I love it and wanted it other places too. I will not know if it workd for at least a month!
