Fern identification

Would like some help identifying a specific "old time" fern. Sorry do not have a photo--ferns were lost in Katrina. Nor do I know the genus or horticultural name.

This fern is very wispy, delicate and does not have fronds per se. It is composed of thread size "fronds" that branch off firmer "stalks" about the size of a pencil lead. The fern color is green, rather slow growing. When young, these ferns burn in the sun. Very old, mature "bushes" can take more sun.

I associate these ferns with the 1950's and 1960's. They were frequently used as background ferns in arrangements and boutonnieres around that time frame in the South.

I would like to find these but they are difficult to find at nurserys and would like to search somehow on the internet.

Thanks in advance for any leads.
