Matteuccia struthiopteris - Ostrich Fern in zone 8B

Does anyone grow Matteuccia struthiopteris - Ostrich Fern in zone 8b. I live in Albany, NY and I grow Matteuccia struthiopteris 'The King' - Ostrich Fern. The king variety does very well here in zone 6. After about 4-5 years they are spreading. I want to share some with my brother in Baton Rouge, LA. Will they grow there? Can they take sun? Thank you for your thoughts. How does it grow in other zones for people?

I don't think they will do very well there - they prefer cooler climates. And no, they could definitely not handle the sun down there. In zone 7 (north Georgia), it does ok only if it gets consistent moisture.
