I'm new to staghorns but already have a collection. I personally like to have my staghorns mounted on a board.

I don't know what size but 14" doesn't sound 'that' big considering your staghorn will sprout pups oneday.

Your staghorn is sooooooooo adorable!!! Did you decide what to do with her yet? Have you thought about making your own wire basket instead? Does the store have more of these? Perhaps you can put three in a basket?

I don't know... I'm just guessing... maybe someone else might tell me that my idea is a bad idea. There is a place near me that sells heavy wire troughs with dried pressed sphagnum moss liners. What you do is plant the trough, and then when you water the moss, it puffs up to about 1.5" thick. Neat stuff. The moss is much better than the coconut mat caca, I believe, but again, someone with real knowledge should straighten me out with correct information.

Finally found the right size wire basket at a local greenhouse!! This is how she looks now! *S*
