What you want are "hardy" ferns and in order to make some recommendations, it helps to know where you are (what state at least and a general direction - e.g., North Georgia, Eastern Tennessee ...).

Okay, I am in Charlotte, NC. That's south NC right near the border to SC... due to your question I've just found that I'm in 7b. Hope this helps.

For part-sun, part shade areas, check out Thelypteris kunthii, Southern Maiden Fern (has several common names). It is often featured in Southern Living and it's native.

Spreading ferns: New York Fern, Broad Beech Fern, Sensitive Fern, Netted Chain Fern.
Ferns good for wet areas: Cinnamon fern, Royal fern, New York fern.
Ferns good for dry areas: Christmas fern, Ebony Spleenwort.

Another generally good fern: Lady Fern.

I love woodwardia fimbriata, the giant chainfern.
Probably my all-time favorite. It grows very large,
and it is incredibly attractive.

Our western swordferns have unfurled their fronds and
they are all very tall and very full now. The key is
to divide your ferns, and plant many of them!

Try to find glade fern, japenese painted fern or lady fern.
I live in Missouri, these are hardy.

All of these do well in my area. During mild winters, the Florida/Southern Wood Fern remains semi-evergreen.
