Baby Dryopteris tokyoensis

Hi - I recently bought a fern labelled as Dryopteris tokyoensis (from a very reputable nursery that I trust) in a 4" pot with just a few short fronds on it so far. But in comparing it to pictures in the Mickel book, the foliage is not typical of tokyoensis; mine is fluffier and the pinnae are wider. What I wonder is this - do ferns have juvenile foliage? Is this likely to become the plant I want? Frustratingly, I later saw a bigger plant of tokyoensis for sale at another nursery - and it is in a bigger pot - that looks more typical (BEAUTIFUL in fact) and am tempted to buy it but don't really want to lay out twice for the same plant...!
