Plants used on wall - Air Plants

I am interested in using plants on my wall...in a cuped seashell, or inlayed piece of drift wood.

I used to see ads for plants called 'Air Plants' that were advertised to used this way..."no soil or water necessary".

What family are these plants? What are their real names?

How long do they live, do they reproduce?

Anyone have links, or info. on these? I really appreciate all the knowledge in this site!

Air plants are not plants. They are dried and painted dead coral like sea animals. Might as well use dried flowers or silk flowers/plants.

Some of the orchids,ferns and bromelids will live without soil, but still need moisture. See link below.
