What can I plant where moss gross naturally?

I have two strips of ground at my house that are generally covered with a light bed of moss. I assume this means shade, cooler than surrounding temperature, and moisture. Ferns and Hostas like such conditions, yes? Can you name other plants...especially flowering ones? I've always wanted to put azaleas in those spots, but I'm assuming that's a terrible idea?
