Mine is up in Ontario. Actually has been for the last month. I believe they are hardy to zone 5 (mine had that label) and we've had a mild winter.

My japanese painted fern appeared about 3 weeks ago, but until then I was worried about it. It seems to be a little slower than autumn ferns, and christmas ferns.
