been walking dog by lake for 10yrs. last year i noticed a dozen nice morels in brushy area. only feet from path. have never seen them before. and i always glance at this area as i walk by. been cool lately. probably too early for them to sprout now. do they come and go in specific spots? spot is only 10-15 ft from water. lake has dam. water level never varies so its always wet. next to drainage pipe so it always gets water.

Morels are mycorrhizal fungi, growing on the roots of trees. You can sometimes find them fruiting in the same area one year to the next but not always.

nice townhomes just across the path. maybe someone has been picking the morels before i get them. i got some nice pics last year. might post them.
