What is this plant?

This love our dry shade fern garden. What is it? (the little ones that look like asterisks). Do you recommend I spread it around as a ground cover?

We moved it here from a wooded area.

I think it is asparagus fern (not a true fern though).

It is kind of aggressive and hard to deal with because it has thorns. It will naturally spread if given good conditions. Baby tears makes a nicer more easy to control ground cover for shade areas.
