I have floppy fronds - Help!

I have some cinnamon ferns that are about 3 years old. This year, they are coming up nicely at about 2.5-3 feet tall. The problem is that once the fiddleheads wilt, the fronds seem to want to bend over, and flop to the ground. I can't find any chew marks, and I've put snail/slug bait around the ferns. They are mulched and watered regularly, so I don't think it's watering. I've tried staking them, but that hasn't worked so well. I'm at a loss for an answer. Every year, there seem to be some fronds that just flop over, and it really detracts from the neat upright look. Could it be squirrels knocking them over? The wind? Sorry if this question has been answered somewhere before. I looked and saw that this question has been asked before, but no one seemed to have an answer. Thanks for ANY help you can give!
