Von1...beautiful garden! What variety in such a compact area. what are the little purple flowers?

i think that what it needs is scale AND height. i'd go with a cinnamon fern which can get pretty tall (mine is around 2 1/2 feet tall...however, it's not light in color. A hayscented fern (not sure if that's a "real" name or not but, that's what my neighbor always called it) is light colored and very lacy but it stays smallish. I also have a light yellowish colored broadleaf fern called "sensitive fern" (see pic posted below somewhere on this forum where I was asking for an ID) - something like that might look really cool in with that variety.

at risk of sounding opportunistic, I've always wanted a painted fern...it's been on my want list for quite some time so, if you want to trade for cinnamon fern, christmas fern, broadleaf or hayscented, let me know. I could do pics if you want.

Looks like Geranium macrorhizum to me.
