Ostrich Fern?

I just picked up a new fern,the label says Matteuccia struthiopteris. height 80cm,semi shade to shade. Sound like Ostrich Fern? Its a bit droopy at the mo,will get a pic tomorrow when its picked up a bit. Its chucking it down today but hopefully I'll get chance to plant it out tomorrow.

Well since the botanical/scientific name for what we call Ostrich fern in the U.S. is Matteuccia struthiopteris, then I would say it is. However, there is a whole debate on the Trees forum right now about "common names" so perhaps it is best just to call it Matteuccia struthiopteris.

Thanks esh. I think I can allow Ostrich Fern for this species as its not misleading in any way.
BTW I notice there are 3 or 4 species in this genus,are the others also called Ostrich Fern or are they totally different?

Just looking at the USDA plants database, I only see one in this genus. Are the others from Asia?

hmmm I'm not sure. I just googled ostrich fern and got took to a site that said that the genus contains 3 or 4 species
