Hi all.... look at this crazy thing!!! Im on the shore in NJ zone 7. Its been raining or foggy for over 2 months now! They are growing NOW in mulch layed May 08. I discovered white 'eggs' the size of say... a large marble. Since I disturbed them, they have not sprouted anything... but others did... this is what I found a few days ago in the morning... they must sprout up in the night/dawn... they are like this during daytime... by evening they deteriorate and shrivel up. Cool huh? Anyone know these? or have a site to suggest I look? Im not experienced with fungi but think its all very cool to see and snap pics of. thanks!

Thank you Lycopus!......... using your help I found them to be Stinkhorn - Mutinus ravenelli This one is as gross as the 'dog puke' one I had several years ago! Love it and so does my 13 year old son! I'm a weird mom... lol :o)
