Hello - I'm kind of new to ferns but love them and am trying to put together a shade garden. I have an area that stays kind of moist unless we go a long time with out rain. Anyway, in that area I have my prize Royal Fern that I love and a newly aquired 'Walking Fern', I've had an Ostrich Fern in a pot for a couple of years and got this bright idea that I could site it in my shade garden as long as I put it far enough away from the others. So I put the Ostrich Fern about 5' away from the other 2. But I've read that the Ostrich Fern can be quite aggressive - do you think that's enough distance or should I just be safe and put it back in a pot? I guess I basically need to know if the Ostrich will spread long distances by underground runners?
