Upcoming Special EventsFern FrenzySaturday, June 17, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Meet Dr. John T. Mickel, author of Ferns for American Gardens and Senior Curator of Ferns at the New York Botanical Garden, Bronx, NY.

Dr. Mickel will lead tours of the Rocky Hills fern beds and provide printed material on the care and cultivation of the over 2,000 plants (dozens of kinds!) available from such leading purveyors of ferns as Fancy Fronds (Washington state)and Casa Flora (Texas), as well as some special selections from Dr. Mickel's private collection. Prices range from $3 to $20, depending on plant size and rarity. Plants include the rarely found Himalayan maidenhair, woodland fragile fern, as well as Japanese painted fern, ostrich fern, wood ferns and holly ferns.

Learn more about this group of easy-to-grow, deer-resistant, shade-loving plants and enjoy another opportunity to follow flower-lined paths through the woodlands of Rocky Hills.

Pay $5 at the gate, or use and Open Day ticket.
