You don't need to do anything about them, unless you object to their appearance, in which case you can remove them to the compost heap. Wear gloves or wash your hands very well after handling.

I'm not sure of the exact name, but that type is often seen on dead wood near the ground.

That appears to be some species of Coprinus. Did they sort of liquify into black goo?
