What's wrong with this Selaginella?

Last fall I picked up some of this Selag for use in my 90 gal terr. Can't remember the proper name but it is clumping variety. It did really well over the winter, slowly getting larger and larger but being well behaved all the same and hasn't tried to take over ... unlike my Selag. uncinata.

Well this spring/early summer, a hole developed in the center of the mass. Looks bleached out. I have not changed lighting, no fertilizer has been applied, and I water with RO water. Suggestions?

Hi
Wish i could help out but have had a Similar problem with several different species. Always amaze me at how different the growth is, in only slightly different conditions,.Particularly notable is the color of the fronds . I've generally found the holes eventually fill up again.. gary
