I dont know much more about ferns than that they reproduce by spores.  I see thses ones growing out of a rock wall while im climbing at a local park.  It is pretty small, about 3 inches long, maybe because it is stunted because of the location.  It has small 1/4 to half inch alternating leaves, ovalish shape, on a black thin stem.  I live in tulsa oklahoma, and i was wondering, would this have black spores, or brownish spores, any clue as to when it may produce mature spores, or when a steam is full of spore filled leaves is that when it is 'ripe' i guess? i collected one today, and its in my truck still, inbetween 2 pieces of paper, im about to go to get it, but i guess put it on what kind of soil?

Nevermind, I found it already. It is 'Maidenhair Spleenwort' or Asplenium Trichomanes
