I have a tough spot and would welcome suggestions for an appropriate fern. It is at the base of a tree, the shade is fairly deep and the ground is definitely on the dry side. I'm in Alabama zone 7a. Suggestions? Thanks!

Forgot to mention that I'd like it to stay short - not much more than 12" if possible. Thanks!

Christmas fern or Ebony Spleenwort, both native to your area, I imagine.
