At my wits end - need a moss and method

I was hoping to get some recommnedations for my 800 sf limestone patio. First, I walked out to the forest and collected a bunch of what I believe was Spagnum Moss and used the blender and yogurt trick. After much work and blending I was told by my garden centre it wouldn't work because spagnum is a 'real' moss and not happy in an alkaline environment like limestone. It didn't work.

So I was told to use Creeping Tyme. With such a large area I attempted to seed instead of planting. I mixed seed with soil and perlite...kept moist daily, and nothing happened??

Can anyone recommend the proper moss for this application and an easy method for applying? Does the blender thing really work if the right moss is used? It's a huge 800 sf area and I'm trying to avoid planting by hand. Thanks much!
