Not too sure if the lowland plants will acclimate to your higher elevation without some degree of shock. It probably works better the other way around.
However, you may want to find out what the species are that are being sold and see if they are listed in the database in the link below. If so then why not give it a whirl.

For soil prep you need clean, bare, firmly packed soil. No compost or mulch.

i have moss all over my 5 acres.. thick as soup under oaks and cherries ... its all volunteer ...

and i have a half acre of pine ... and not a single bit of moss under them ... which leads me to think it might be too acidic under there???

better check your pH requirements.. and have a soil test.. before you invest a lot of moolah

I think the issue with your pine forest may be more related to where the forest is located. Slope exposure, length of sunlight reaching the ground, dryness of the forest floor throughout the year, and overall humidity may play a more important role in the lack of mosses in your pine forest. It is possible you could have some mosses growing on the trees?
There are several mosses that do handle some xeric conditions, such as Polystichum, and will dry back during the hot summer periods. Adequate winter moisture is a prerequisite for their continued presence.
