Moss Unknown and Need to Grow

I live in Atlanta Georgia, and prior to our drought a few years ago, had a beautiful moss yard. Now it is very dry dirt with minimal moss coverage.

I want to regrow it, and do not have a green thumb.
Are there simple steps I can be taking to grow back the moss?

Really that would depend on wheather or not all the spores are still there. If it's been a few years I wouldn't get your hopes up. You could try planting something like Irish Moss. I don't know if it's technically a moss but it looks pretty much the same.
