ID of this fungus??....

I found this poking thru the grass under my big pines: http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a96/TwoSevenRight/P10202623.jpg It looks like it's past its prime, but I've never seen it come up before and was hoping someone could ID it for me. THe "flower" is about the size of a wire nut. With the cool kind of damp summer we're having in central New England this year, I have all kinds of curious mushrooms and fungus sprouting.

Even though it looks like a fungus it is actually a a plant. The common name is Indian Pipe and it is a parasite of mycorrhizal fungi. It gets all its nutrition from the fungus and therefore doesn't need to produce chlorophyll.

Thanks! You guys are amazing in your ability to ID this stuff. Living in the woods, I often see some amazing "growths" and mushrooms in general. I always leave them be because I have no idea what they are. This was a new one though.
